^ Aizenstadt M.A., Bogolitsyn K.G. Peroxidase catalyzed oxidation of lignin and lignin model compounds

At present time, plant and fungous peroxidases are considered to play the main role in oxidation decomposition of lignin. It’s generally agreed by the majority of researchers that the most perspective oxidizers of lignin and lignin model compounds are lignin-peroxidase, manganese- peroxidase and laccase. However, number of papers is devoted to the application of plant peroxidase, such as horseradish peroxidase (HRP), for such purposes.

Data on the application of such enzymes as catalysts over the reaction of oxidation of lignin and lignin model compounds by hydrogen peroxide are given in the present paper. Structure and mechanism of catalytic action of different peroxidases is compared. Plant and fungous peroxidases have similar structure, but higher stability and wider pH optimum are revealed for plant peroxidases. Therefore, studies on the influence of functional groups, multilayer properties and regularities of redox transformation under the oxidation of lignin and lignin model compounds by hydrogen peroxide, using plant peroxidases as catalysts, will be prospective research area.

Keywords: enzymes, lignin peroxidase, manganese peroxidase, laccase, horseradish peroxidase, catalytic oxidation, lignin, lignin model compounds.

Boymirzaev A.S.^ STERIC EXCLUSION CHROMATOGRAPHY OF WATER SOLUBLE POLYSACCHARIDES

Principles of steric exclusion chromatography (SEC) of water-soluble polysaccharides are considered. Influences of parameters chromatographic system to elution properties of polymers were analyzed. It is marked, that the analysis of molecular mass parameters of polysaccharides in SEC is complicated by presence of some electrostatic and polyelectrolyte effects, and also formation of molecular aggregates and associates in solutions under investigation.

^ Drachev A.A., Sevastyanova Yu.V, Komarov V.I., Milovidova L.A. Investigation of effect of hardwood chips addition on deformation and strength properties of softwood kraft pulp

The effect of softwood chips addition and main cooking characteristics (charge of active alkali, temperature and cooking duration) on yield, deformation and strength characteristics of spruce sulphate pulp is studied.

It is established that addition of softwood pulp within 0–20% of mass of wooden raw material followed by simultaneous change of cooking parameters has no effect on yield and kappa number of softwood pulp. Change of species composition of raw material effects the mechanical strength characteristics of produced pulp samples.

It is established that self-strength of fiber (L0) in the investigated scope of cooking characteristics increases with the growth of softwood chips share. It is shown that increase of hardwood content in the raw material results in enhancing interfibrillar bonding force.

Addition of hardwood content up to 15…20% could be realized in spruce sulphate pulp production without notable change of the main pulp characteristics in the wide scope of kappa number values of pulp.

Keywords: sulphate pulp, anthraquinones, dispersing agents, yield takes place, kappa number, breaking length, bursting strength, tear strength.

^ Drachev A.A., Sevastyanova Yu.V., Komarova V.I., Milovidova L.A. Effect of chemicals addition in sulphate cooking on spruce pulp properties

Data on efficiency evaluation of the chemical additives use (anthraquinones (AQ – А, В, С) and dispersing agents (SAS – 1, 2, 3, 4)) are analyzed in production of spruce sulphate pulp within the range of kappa number of 30–0.

It is established that the use of all anthraquinone modifications results in considerable reduction of shive content in pulp in comparison with control samples. Addition of AQ results in some increase of breaking length (L) and bursting strength (П). Such increase is the most evident for pulp samples with kappa number of 30. Tear strength (R) decreases when anthraquinones are added, the decrease of such property being most evidently observed for pulp with kappa number of 30.

Addition of dispersing agents in sulphate cooking of spruce pulp results in reduction of dirt content testifying improvement of impregnation process. No change of kappa number and pulp yield takes place.

Joint use of anthraquinone and dispersing agent hasn’t resulted in improving results in comparison with cooking when only anthraquinone is added.

The obtained results allow drawing conclusions that the use of anthraquinone is the most reasonable in cooking spruce sulphate pulp. Use of dispersing agents in production of the given pulp turned to be inefficient.

Keywords: sulphate pulp, anthraquinones, dispersing agents, yield takes place, kappa number, breaking length, bursting strength, tear strength.

^ Golyazimova O.V., Politov A.A. Intensification of raw material grinding with chemical treatment

Intensification of grinding process of raw material and simultaneous reducing of mechanical effect intensity is an actual problem. Application of less power-intensive technology is necessary for product quality retention and profitability growth. Influence of acid, alkaline, and enzyme hydrolysis on grinding effectiveness was studied. Different components of raw materials: cellulose, hemicellulose and lignin were altered with enzyme, acid and alkaline hydrolysis. Hydrolysis of lingocarbohydrate matrix, especially amorphous cellulose is responsible for cellulose supramolecular structure modification, intermolecular bonds disruption and fibers strength degradation. The effectiveness of raw material grinding depends on the type of machine. Untreated corn and wheat straw was more effectively grinded on disintegrator and jet(-type) mill. The most effective grinding mode of treated straw is ball milling.

This investigation made it possible to suggest new method of raw material grinding.

Keywords: Grinding, intensification, raw material, supramolecular structure, preliminary chemical treatment, enzyme treatment.

^ Golyazimova O.V., Politov A.A., Lomovski O.I. Mechanical activation of lignocellulose enzyme hydrolysis

Enzyme saccharification of lignocellulose raw material is the first step in the process of the bioethanol production. Lignocellulose raw materials are composed of biopolymers: cellulose, lignin, hemicellulose and pectins. These components of lignocellulose matrix make difficult the process of enzyme cellulose conversion. Crystallinity of cellulose is another limiting factor which inhibits the hydrolysis rate. Low conversion rate reduces production profitability and prevent its commercialization. In spite of numerous efforts in this area and existing different pretreatment techniques the problem of saccharification improving is actual as the most of introduced methods have application in laboratory scale only.

Intermittent mechanical treatment of lignocellulose is efficient and safe method of improving cellulose reactivity. When the rate of enzyme hydrolysis reaction is falling the substrate is separated from solution, dried and grinded and then hydrolyzed. Treatment allows us to raise reactivity of lignocellulose due to extend of cellulose accessible surface and reducing of cellulose crystallinity. This method application made it possible to obtain 90 % carbohydrate extent conversion.

Keywords: Intensification, enzyme hydrolysis, lignocellulose, corn straw, intermittent, mechanical treatment.

Zubow K.V., Zubow A.V., Zubow V.A. Low Frequency Movement of Cluster-12 in Potato Amylopectin During Growth. Influence of white noises

The thermal decomposition of potato starch from the North of Germany and of pure amylopectin isolated from genetically modified potatoes was studied by flicker noise spectroscopy (FNS) in the temperature interval between 294 and 525 K. The FNS-spectra of cluster oscillations in the amorphous region of starch and amylopectin macromolecules during potato growth in summer 2006 were shown. On the cluster level, in amylopectin, there were found secondary building units (SBU), which consist of 12 α-D-glycopyranose units in the form of a spiral of two meanders of polymer chains (cluster-12). Based on the clusters in starch and amylopectin (grape like model) the row containing the following cluster-12 units as SBU can be derived: 1; 2; 3; 4; 5; 7; 9; 13 etc.. The formation of this row in stationary waves of white noises penetrating the Earth was suggested. The formation energy of the cluster-12 depended on temperature and changed in the interval from –35...-220 J/mol and activation energy of thermal moving was in the interval from –6 to 5 kJ/mol. Amylopectin was in the amorphous area of the starch macromolecule in the form of super coils built by sub coils of macromolecular branches. The Zubow` equation, connecting masses of clusters (m, Dalton) with the frequencies of their oscillations (ω, Hz) was given.
